The desperation that went into the choice to rob someone at knife point means you forgot what we learned at church.

So for now, work on obtaining forgiveness from God, and pay the penance which men have placed upon you. We are paying attention, even if we are not present with you daily.

And for the victims of Danny’s actions, we will hold the state to its word, that the measure of what Danny purchased is given to him.

And for the passing comment maker, compassion is for both the victim and the offending party – the difference being in that compassion for the victim can ease the consequence, but for the offender merely ease the acceptance of guilt.

Rightly enough, I learned that lesson of compassion in church. And the truth of it remains.
