@Sam, you are 100 % correct. We definitely need change. Our current mayor and council hasn't accomplished anything as far as growth for Century. We have lost most of the things and services that we had. Now we have to go to Molino or Pensacola to handle business that we use to be able to handle here. I'm really hoping that someone with Century's best interest at heart will run. ( Pastor Hawkins, where are you?) My personal opinion is that our mayor doesn't want anything located in Century. Does anyone happen to know how many times the mayor can be re-elected. If I'm not mistaken, I think there's a limit and I'm thinking he is ineligible to run again anyway.

Kevin I agree, but Ann Brooks seems like the smartest one there. She has experience from Fairhope also plus sound ideas about finances and feasibility of following through. I think the mayor is good as he can be, Anne Savage is absent.

I realize the frustrations of some regarding our town and can recognize that we could use ideas on how to capture the audience of passersby to generate revenue within the city limits. I have observed the mayor and council members soliciting investors and manufacturers to improve industry in Century and I truly believe that they have the interest of the people at heart. The bottom line is finding investors willing to invest in our community. That is OUR responsibility. If we are not taking the time to invest in our own selves, how can we expect an outsider to do any different. I believe that if we come together as a community, invest in educating our children and improving our quality of life, working and volunteering to assist our fellow neighbors, that we can make such a difference that we would attract the attention of any investor and turn things around for Century.

Moved into the city limits a few years back and have been observing via North Escambia about the people and the area. What does Century need? What would be solutions to some of its problems? I know I see things from my own perspective and have some ideas but as a newcomer, so to say, it looks daunting to say the least. I have also noticed it may be very unpopular to force peoples hand via code enforcement but in my view it seems the mayor is very hands on with the decisions, even as the manager of the departments but for what salary? Are the council members actively doing things for the town? One seat has noticeably been vacant. Yes perhaps some mistakes but in the court of the people it looks like a dam if you do situation at times. Looks like it could wear one down who gives it their best shot..or someone could try to get a seat just for the extra few bucks.

I do not live in Century but do work there and have for quite a while. Please remember all the mistakes the mayor and council has made and make some changes to benefit your town. Tons of traffic come through going to the beaches but we have nothing to offer. Let's work together and get a mayor and council who wants to benefit the town.

I am earnestly praying that there is someone willing to take these positions or some of the ones in place will continue. I believe and have learned that here in this small town it is truly hard work and not a position of glory and riches. I can try to appreciate what weight falls upon ones shoulders, especially after the tornado and continued hard economic times. I believe better times are ahead and watch in hope for the next few years and new leaders will emerge. I trust that we realize these positions are all we have and these folks may not be savvy political managers or always of great experience but have a heart and williness to try. Thank you for your hard work. Perhaps, the charter could be amended to allow someone to serve that lives outside the boundaries of the actual town, if there are not enough candidates to serve in actual residence It is important to have someone in place to make sure Century get grants etc. I hope to see the actual residents pull their own weight with their own properties and not expect more of the local government that is beyond their capabilities.Better times are ahead.
