How many people have been killed when their vehicle hit a bear? I haven’t been able, yet to find a number on this, but there were three people killed in one collision and another killed when his motorcycle hit one that I know of.

The State has made $825,000 available for bear proof trash cans? $325,000 from bear hunt permits.
The $500,000 comes from State funds. Why are all citizens of the State paying for what hunters are willing to pay?
How many bears does the FWC kill? What does this cost?

It is sad to see the State of Florida governed by the emotions of a small (but loud) segment of the population.
The bleeding hearts are more concerned with animal life than at the expense of human life.
There needs to be serious penalties for feeding bears.

The counties or areas that have allowed building permits in natural bear territories should not be getting money from the rest of the state. Let those areas decide if they want to allow hunting or suffer the expense and consequences, including liability for human injury and death.

The same arguments apply to the over population of alligators.

I have spent a lifetime enjoying the natural Florida and more than likely more time than the state scientist and know that the state’s count of bears, alligators and panthers are way low. The state will not take the word of non state scientist on the presence of wildlife, from my years of experience.

Secure your trash cans & keep the kiddies inside. Lack of supervision got that kid ate by a ‘gator, just sayin’.
