First off, it's NOT a Blazer, it's a Trailblazer and overall they have a pretty good service record when compared to other makes of cars in that class. I mean, a comparable Land Rover will cost you $70k and give you more problems. The emergency brake was a good call. If it's running and you think you're having problems while you work on it, set the brake. That being said, cars don't just "jump in gear". Something causes it to do that, wiggle a cable wrong, hit a shifter linkage or maybe...just maybe it was in gear when she tried to get out of it and it proceeded to drag her across the road?
