David, Too funny! No, that in and of itself is not a reason to keep a person in prison – I only mentioned it to show that they had not yet developed enough of a social conscience to realize that they smelled bad and needed to bathe. Put that with all the other things they had going against them and it’s a pretty good bet that they will be back in prison before too long.

I don’t believe and certainly HOPE body odor is not considered sufficient reason to hold a person in prison.

Clemency is not necessarily a bad thing if the recipient of such has shown a major change in attitude and has accomplished some worthwhile things while in prison – things like earning a GED or getting educated in a trade or other way to have gainful employment on the legal side of the aisle prior to their being released.

Unfortunately, the few that I am familiar with who received clemency did not meet many of any of the above mentioned accomplishments. Most were African American and many had come from a higher level of incarceration and were absolutely LOST at a minimum security level prison. Many had body odor and were in no way prepared to be released. The sad fact is: Many of them will go back to prison because they were not properly prepared for release, nor did they earn it.

Actually Al Capone died in his home. He was released because he was no longer a threat to society.

I can think of one other person who could easily be released under the president’s no violence in the crime guidelines… if he had not died in jail… all he ever got charged with was tax evasion. He spent the rest of his life in jail for failing to pay his taxes… this mean old government… his name was Al Capone. I wonder how many of Al Capone’s our president is releasing back into our neighborhoods. The federal government does not go after petty criminals… things that make me go Hmmm.

No one should ever be doing life in prison for that. This war on drugs is a joke. I would understand if it it was meth or something like that. In South America the stuff is used to treat all kinds of ailments. Job well done by our president.
