So let me get this straight, your solution is to trap, then spay or neuter the bears? Are you serious? You do know that that "solution" has been tried on other species, with poor success. It cost about $500-$1500 per animal to sterilize them, where do you suggest this money will come from?

I have an idea, how about we leave wildlife management to the EXPERTS? Hunting has been used as a Management tool for hundreds of years, and it generates BILLIONS of dollars for wildlife conservation and habitat preservation.

There are ways to control the bears and deers and all other wildlife that is a over population problem. Environmentalist have known this for years. Why it is not enforced is beyond reason. Spay and Neuter programs would be less cruel than Hunting and Traps and yet Mankind finds a pleasure in crippling, stalking, killing the innocent wildlife.

These wonderful people who oppose a hunt for these bears have offered no solution to the bear problem. If you see the bear as "no problem", you obviously have yet to have your property ransacked for food, you've not lost a pet to the bears and none are roaming your neighborhood.
You good people who resent bear hunting just can't or won't see the issue.

I deer Hunt, I do not bear hunt, and I never had a desire to go bear hunting. But they have to be kept in check. Who keeps their population in check? Hunters!
We do not need 25,000 bears roaming Florida. Babies, joggers, pets etc, would start vanishing. There are preserves all through out Florida, but if you know anything about bears they routinely roam hundreds of miles searching for mates, dens, etc.....they will not stay on a preserve.

A friend wants to start a guided python hunt company down in the Everglades. I did some checking, the rules are quite stringent about the training that must be taken to be able to legally hunt the snakes, I guess the bear hunt should require the same kind of documents, but I dunno.

Where are your priorities people? Just like any exotic hunt, it is great entertainment for the "privileged" to kill bears. Nobody cares about the welfare of the bears. I agree with 429SCJ - you encounter a lot more evil people than bears.

I would rather hunt an evil and dangerous human, than one of those little black bears.

Preserves should be established for these animals.
