I work in the telecommunications business...What is happening is the old style Land Line phones ( phone on your wall) isn't profitable and making money for phone companies any longer. Thats why when you call Frontier (where ever their call center is), you do not get service or support. It cost money to dispatch and possibly fix the old phone and that cuts into company profits for that old copper cable that has been in the ground for the last 50 years.

Just like big cable providers and government bureaucrats think everyone has cable TV & internet at 100Mb to their home. The Cell phone companies are trying to make up for their losses of wall phones by enticing everyone to a large data plan. Look around, like any learned and addictive behavior, most people in public are "scratching" on that glass device in their hand as if their life depended on it....thats wireless data in use.

From the attached link, "New Cingluar Wireless PLC, LCC, is just another word for AT&T Wireless PLC, LCC...(remember, Cingular purchased AT&T around 2005)... The new AT&T is forcing the issue on the 10 digit change in an attempt to gain customers in the are for their cell phone and more data package plans.

Its all about the Benjamins.....and who you want to give your $100.00 plus a month to..
