I pay the bills for my residence, and I keep a close watch on my banking account. Every week I visit the bank and ask for a current statement. I don't answer the door, and I don't answer the phone if the number is not programmed into my caller ID. The unknown caller gets a pickup then hangup. Just a click is what you get. I have a small note attached to my doorbell that I am not answering the door. If you want to talk to me then call on the phone. So with that said, they must have my phone number to do that. Then, alert the Sheriffs dept to have a deputy at my home and BAM!! All done!
