It is water soluble and pretty harmless when diluted. I wouldn't expect any groundwater impact or negative impact on health. Due to the nitrogen and alkaline nature in the product, grass may grow back healthier than ever, but I wouldn't recommend using it as a fertilizer. I work in manufacturing this product.
