I travelled this road for 32 years every day and deer is a very bad thing on this road. They used to allow hunters on deer stands by this road until our carpool was scared to death one of those frequent deer would appear and the guns would go off until I called Fish & Wildlife and reported this dangerous condition. The deer stands were stopped by roadway BUT the deer are still real bad there and have seen many wrecks because of deer. I even hit one but didn’t hurt me but had to leave the car. I did get someone to get the deer as well as the car This might have happened with this person and no one stopped.

He wasn’t speeding & he wasn’t not paying attention. He wasn’t fiddling with his phone or stuff in his car.
He fell asleep. Simple as that. Please stop assuming things if you do not know or was not there.

They definitely patrol this road. i am 70 years old and got my first ticket (and he should have given me a ticket!) several months ago close to where this wreck was.
Not a dangerous road if the speed limit or below is driven.

@nicnak50. I wish there was more police presence on 97, but they are there. I drive this road four times a day, during peak hours. I see them often.

I too agree with Susan. Seems nobody wants to admit it, but Hwy 97 is a racetrack…..day or night. Especially at peak work and school times. I suggest FHP set up multiple radar units at different points every day until the race car drivers “get it”. Wait, I forgot. This highway is not in their patrol schedule. I have never seen a trooper on this highway. Please post if you have.

My thoughts are with the family but I agree with Susan Helton. If people would PAY ATTENTION TO THE ROAD, accidents are.less likely to happen.

Have run many calls on that road. However there is NOTHING wrong with the road. People very simply need to SLOW DOWN. Especially in foul weather, slow the heck down and turn your lights on. Don’t pass when you shouldnt. Pay ATTENTION. Stay off the phone and don’t fiddle with stuff in the car. And BUCKLE UP.
