In regards to "Taxpayer" ,
Thompson Road was named after My late neighbor, Mr. Oliver Thompson. Mr. Thompson was retired county employee and that didn't carry any weight with the road paving projects.

REGARDING:
"part of the issue with paving roads is the mandates to ensure adequate right-of-way for utilities and drainage. It only takes one property owner to say no to providing the required right-of-way to stall a paving a project."

True. Self~made mandates which have been ignored multiple times.

Simply paving what is used isn't perfect but reduces water pollution, improves access, reduces vehicular damage, improves access for emergency vehicles and school buses~we must never forget them.

Consider all the miles of public roads which have been abandoned due to those subsequent decisions.

Also, nothing stops the payment for the right~of~way.

Yes, that raises the cost but we didn't expect it to be free or we wouldn't have needed to agree to tax ourselves in the first place.

David for promises kept,
even if somewhat slowly and imperfectly

@BigJohn
Don't know where you've been but there's not half the mileage of dirt roads north of pine barren creek that there used to be.

AS I SAID BEFORE THE COUNTY SAID THAT IF WE WOULD VOTE FOR THE L.O.S.T, THEY WOULD PAVE THAT ROADS IN THE NORTH END FIRST !!! ( 20 YEARS LATER) MAYBE SOME DAY THE REST OF THE ROADS IN THE NORTH END WILL BE PAVE. HA HA HA HA BIG JOKE !!!!

We paid to have it done (all of it) more than 20 years ago. It is nice whenever they actually spend some of the L.O.S.T. Funds on what we voted for. . . . . . . David for tasty crumbs

The $59, 870 is soley the cost of "designing" the roadways, drainage, driveway entrance, culverts, etc. This amount does not include the money need to do the actual paving of the roads.

The BCC website indicates that the design plans are from 2003 and are only 90% complete and will need additional information before construction can begin. The construction isnt plan to start prior to April 2016 and may be delayed until August 2016.

Info from the BCC website:
* In 2003, Escambia County received 90% Design Plans for Thompson Road, Crary Road and McNeal Road.

* Staff is requesting a plans update and is currently working through the RLI process to acquire an A&E.

* An updated set of plans is expected by End of February to beginning of March 2016

* Anticipated Construction April 2016 - August 2016
