We recently had a gun grab attempt in Florida. It was by a police officer who clearly has violated the rights of a person lawfully open carrying while fishing. I would rather see a thug with his gun out, than wonder if he has one hidden (and if it is a greater crime to hide it, many will have it out). Open carry is a crime deterrent. There is nothing unsafe about carrying a firearm out of holster, even when loaded with one in the chamber. There are very, very few incidents in the military, even in boot camp and on duty where carry of a rifle is often over shoulder. The biggest problem with this law, is the same problem with the current law: it violates the 2nd because it forces people to trade a 'right' in for a licensed privilege.

allowing citizens to be “armed with their own liberty.”...as a human living on this ball in space, it should be natural. Well done.

I'm against "open carry"... I'm a conceal carry permit holder and I don't see the sense in having someone able to roam the streets brandishing a firearm. I'm not going to feel safe seeing a 20 something kid walking around with an AR-15 or a 1911 colt pistol.
I would be FOR allowing business owners such as convenience store owners/employees, bank tellers, ect. the right to "open carry" inside their business. When I see an open carried firearm, I like to see a badge along with it.
Florida isn't Montana, Texas, or Wyoming.

45 States currently allow Open Carry, and NONE of the "issues" the people opposed to this measure predict have EVER happened. Nobody has hed their weapons grabbed by a thief, and people are not walking around with their weapons in their hands (except a few extremists that are "protesting" gun laws).

Meanwhile, if someone with a concealed carry permit has their jacket blow up in the wind and expose their weapon, they can be charged with brandishing.

It's simple, dorks.
Display a "Guns not allowed" sign on your business. That lets me know that my firearm isn't welcome, and that means I'm not welcome, which in turn means that my MONEY isn't welcome.
Then if a criminal decides to ignore your little sign and someone gets shot, then the blood, and potential death, will be on your hands.
I already don't shop at stores that have policies that request CCW holders not carry in their establishment.
