I lived next to j.r. yrs ago. It's still hard to comprehend someone from your childhood being gone even tho we hadn't spoke in many many yrs. Thoughts go out to his family during this hard time.

Our son is also a Marine. Earned his title on Parris Island. We also have a son in the Navy currently deployed. My heart goes out to you. I know the worry, the time away and the sacrifices made not just by your Marine but you as well. These young men and ladies deserve so much respect and gratitude for their service. Yes they sign up but what greater honor than to volunteer to lay down your life to help others. We have learned over the last year the great sacrifices made. Just their training is tremendous. It certainly gets to overwhelming periods for them and their families at times. I will take the simplest "hey momma ,I'm ok " any day from either of my sons. My heart breaks for you with the devastating news of losing your son. I pray I never have that visit. I also pray for your healing and peace. I thank and honor your son and your family for his service and the courage to become one of the greatest.. If the Army and Navy ever look in Heaven's scenes. They will find the streets are guarded by United States Marines!! Ooh rah Semper Fi!!
