But the removal of costly racing, should allow the State to double the current slot tax on the dog tracks in South Florida, and use some of these funds to subsidize the Tampa Bay Downs Thoroughbred track. Gulfstream and the FL Harness operators already have slots, that help underwrite purses, but the Tampa track does not. I'm delighted to see the State considering adding Craps and Roulette to the menu of games allowed at the Seminole casinos. This is very good for Florida tourism and in attracting the convention trades. Las Vegas has proved that casino gaming increases the number of exhibitors and attendees, that attend a convention or trade show.
