Starting back the day after New Years is ridiculous for teachers! No time to return back home from the holidays at all!

Have spring break in early April instead of March the weather in March is to windy for the kids to enjoy their spring break. Also don’t include good Friday in with spring break cause everybody want to spend Easter with their family without rushing to get back from spring break or prolonging their plans to after Easter give them kids their full spring break days.

More importantly look at the start and end dates. Going back so early in August?
There used to be a law on the books that schools could not begin more than 2 weeks before Labor Day, it has since expired. Time to bring it back. The earlier the students go back the lower their test scores. Then factor in the temperature. Most would rather go to mid June vs. coming back so early in August, when it is beyond hot. There were valid reasons why schools did not go back so early in August, such as most teenagers working through tourist season (most parts of the country are still on summer break in early august and come to this area) What about the cost of AC in the schools? More financially sound to come back later in August. Hope PARENTS let their voices be heard.

Do not include Good Friday with Spring Break. Have 5 days for Spring Break like in the old days & Good Friday by itself. Also would like to have Good Friday and the whole next week (the week after Easter) for spring break like it was many many years ago. That way we could actually injoy Easter with our families and not rush home to get the kids ready for school.

@Bob, it is on the calendar.

They don’t have room to spell out every single holiday in the legend or on the calendar to suit every religion. Don’t be so pious, it is unbecoming as a Christian and in the eyes of our Lord.

I’m Christian myself and I even recognize that. I know when Christmas is and Easter, I celebrate the birth and resurrection, and so does my household. I say Merry Christmas and Happy Easter. I don’t need it spelled out on a school calendar to legitimize it.

Start Easter Break the week before Good Friday like it use to be. Stop robbing families of the day!

Also as Bob C. stated, call the holidays by their right names CHRISTMAS and EASTER. Stop trying to be politically correct, you are only angering people!

Today is Yom Kippur the county even used the “religious” term when they shut offices for the holiday.
