Well, we'll be attending the Blue Angels Homecoming like we do every year. Then enjoying a nice game of Ice Flyers hockey that night. Maybe next year it'll be on a different day and festival planners will actually look at surrounding events that may be of conflict. That's not counting the college football games that day; FSU -v- Clemson, Alabama -v- LSU, Auburn -v- Texas A & M. Hopefully it will be succesful and those attending will have a great time.

@ oversight, I don't believe everyone will go see the Blues, I personally would rather eat out of season, not from around here watermelon over going thru all the traffic & the extra people, & yes, I do agree w/ Jim, a lot that happens in Pensacola events do involve drunks, so on that note, I'd rather eat watermelon than putting me & my kids on the road with those drunks going home & quit lying to yourself, just because people serve wine @ some galleries instead of beer, it's still alcohol & you can get just as drunk with it as you can with beer, whiskey or anything else, rich or not

Jim, let me add that Nov 6 and 7 is the Blue Angels' Homecoming air show at NAS Pensacola, which is another huge local draw of people.

Sorry Jim, but the arts festival is not a "gallery night" drunk fest. Pensacola will get the best vendors on the 5-7 November weekend. Century will be left with the castoffs, even if they get any at all to show up. I agree that Century's event should be moved to cooler weather; however, you'd think that those in charge would make an informed decision on the other events in the area at the same time. Why not a fall fest the weekend prior? By the way, any watermelon you eat in November didn't come from around here.

@ Oversight: As much as I hate it, most people know that gallery nights and Arts Festivals in downtown Pensacola have turned into prolonged, out-in-the-streets "happy hours". These things are no longer family-friendly, and have less and less to do with art, and more and more to do with loud bands and cheap beer.

I applaud Century for the move to a cooler season when people can actually enjoy the event. I think this will be more successful than Oversight assumes. People who want to enjoy local events, something that they can take kids and friends to without fear of encountering drunks and rampant vulgarity will opt for this type of thing over the long drive downtown, the price-gouging parking spaces, the shoulder to shoulder crowds, and the bombarding obscenity.
Personally, I'm looking forward to watermelon!

Couldn't find another date or does Century like competing with the downtown Pensacola crowd and its arts festival. Good luck with that. http://www.ggaf.org/
