I am so proud to hear this. Congratulations Joe, on this honor and for your retirement. Apparently, you have done a wonderful job with those students. That is such a blessing. As a retired educator, I applaud your efforts and the influence that you have developed with the students and your peers there.

One of my memories when I think of my middle school days is Coach Murphy and running that mile every Thursday on that orange dirt track *sigh* haha. I look back and see coach in those poly coach shorts polo shirt and whistle standing at the track telling us all to hustle.

I couldn’t think of a more deserving person to have a building named after. You have done so much for us in our lives and for someone to look back and think about you, you’ve done something right. Such a great guy and motivator of our youth.

I never had coach Murphy when I was at Ransom in the mid 90s; I had coach White all 3 years. I do remember coach Murphy though, and he was always firm on students, but funny and pleasant to be around. I’m glad that he has been honored this way. Good move by the school board!

Congrats to Coach! I remeber him taking the time to teach me how to throw discus in the 7th grade. While it was a long time ago, I still have those 1st place ribbons.
