REGARDING:

Further, those other articles refer to Wicca as “devil worship.” Nothing could be further from the truth”

In the interest of truth, let us remember Wicca doesn’t have a copyright or trademark exclusivity to terms like “witch”. “Wicca has no central authority. Its traditional core beliefs, principles and practices were originally outlined in the 1940s and 1950s” per my buddy, Wiki, who should know.

The term “witch” goes back much further.

If the blue moon occurred on July 31st , and the examiner believes the actual day they died was on July 28th , how did that coincide with the blue moon ? They died three days before the blue moon even happened ?

To JJ – and – Retired LEO: Thank you for your experienced insight. I, too, am concerned about the upcoming election and with the choices, I think someone new is needed. McNesby and Morgan have had their chance and I hope that someone with experience and understanding of our entire situation will be elected. This case has been an odd one from the start and there were plenty of things that could have been said without using “witchcraft”. Yes there are many alternate belief practices but to refer to this crime in this manner has Pensacola as a laughing stock, once again.
People are scared to leave their houses already and now this. We continually are told that crime is down yet shootings and other violence is happening daily. You can’t park in your own driveway without thieves rummaging through your vehicle and/or stealing it. Once again, thank you for your comments from someone who has experience first hand of what is going on in our Sheriff’s Dept. It’s welcome information and I hope people will educate themselves on who is running for Sheriff before heading to the polls.

WKRG-TV, Mobile, Cox Channel 5, nightly news 10:00 PM, showed an attempted interview with sheriff David Morgan.
Morgan was leaving the swearing in of the new Pensacola Police Chief.
When the interviewer tried to talk with Morgan the sheriff walked away quickly and avoided the questions.
“Misconception” was used by Morgan when the interviewer referred to the witchcraft and ritualistic killings.
“Witchcraft” was Morgan’s word of choice in the WEAR interviews. How can that be a “misconception”?
Agree, why would ANY prudent LEO discuss anything about an ongoing investigation.
Obviously this is another big fumble by Morgan.

I, too, am retired from the ECSO after 20 yrs. Witchcraft killings do occur, on very rare occasion, usually in the movies. However, IF this crime was related to witchcraft, Morgan messed up by getting on TV and providing all of the facts of the crime to everyone, including the suspect(s) that are still running our streets. This is NOT a Morgan bashing. It is an opportunity to reveal what type of sheriff Morgan is not. His ego is so big that I believe he did this stunt to grab some headlines due to how many people have challenged him for his seat. It worked for him, in the Billings case and he figures it will work, again. He acted foolishly then (ninjas, Mexican mafia, humdinger) and he is doing the same, now. This time, it has back fired. His mouth is bigger than his ego, apparently.

Look, I was not one of the “good ol’ boys”. I was an honest, hardworking loyal Deputy. I gave my boss an honest days work, everyday. It pains me to see our Sheriff’s Department in the hands of such an egomaniac. He really is; and you folks who think he’s doing such a great job do not understand the actual day to day job that his position requires. Nobody is perfect, but Morgan is incompetent. Say what you want. You don’t hire a carnival worker to operate on your brain, your hire a neurosurgeon.

I retired from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office after 27 years. Shortly after Sheriff Morgan was elected I invited him to accompany the investigative unit I supervised on an operation so he could understand what we did. Sheriff Morgan’s reply was something along the lines that he made a terrible witness and he would not be going. He never took the time to learn what it is that each unit does, most have their own way of operating based on the crimes they investigate. Kathy Gore, I’m sorry but you are incorrect that he didn’t provide too much information, he did. The Sheriff ’s statements are not based on facts and are only assumptions on his part and that’s not the way he should handle this. No expert(s) were consulted before he came to this conclusion and if there is an arrest made he has opened the door for a good defense attorney to attack the prosecution. It’s not a good practice to provide specific details of the cause of death, weapon used and other specifics involving the crime scene, especially when you haven’t made an arrest. One additional point, where are the press conferences for all of the other homicides that occurred, including others that happen during the same time period, doesn’t every victim deserve the same attention?
