I’m sure your grammar lesson is greatly appreciated, but this is a major problem in Blackwater Forest. Deer management doesn’t exist and the farmer is feeding the state’s deer. It’s not the farmer’s job. They work all day and have to keep the vermin away from their crops at night. It’s not a fun task. It’s exhausting and it’s discouraging. The hunters are angry and the farmer’s are helpless and then to have a “belligerent treaspasser” drive out on the property and point a gun at them is beyond ridiculous. It’s just pathetic. May God bless the farmer.

@ David Huie Green—Amazing how many never learned correct spelling or word usage in school. Many mistakes change the whole meaning of a sentence, & can be really funny! Often misused is “to” & “too”. Too, usually means “also”. Using all of the words correctly in a sentence:
They’re going to their home there too. I have been out of High School over 50 years. Don’t they teach English & Spelling anymore?

Other suggestions: never point a gun at or near anyone you’re not prepared to kill
Avoid conflict if possible, ask yourself if its worth dying over or worth killing over
Remember you may miss
Remember you may hit
Remember projectiles continue until stopped
Guns jam
Guns explode
Cartridges misfire
People shoot those who threaten them
Life is short
Death is long

David for fewer regrets
They’re unpleasant
There are too many (didn’t touch on that form)

@Lady—Yes those deer can be very “rapid”! Rapid means fast. Did you actually mean rabid with a “b”?

Fish and Wildlife have to do something to curtail deer population all over the U.S. Everyone talks about the POOR DEER but they are taking over. Farmers are trying to feed us but have to fight the animals that are growing,growing,growing. I don’t blame the people for bringing the guns on. We have rapid animals all over. It is dangerous to get out in your own yard and everyone is saying “poor animals”. It is getting down to animals or humans. Kill these deer!!!! In and Out of Season!

It’s called DEPREDATION permits. They are legal and it appears that the hunters were obeying the law and the gunshot victim was not. It’s not very smart to pull a gun on someone who has a gun. Especially when you are trespassing. Something tells me this “victim” has a shady past.

I live at the end of a dirt road surrounded by woods and had no idea that under certain circumstances deer hunting is legal year round and especially at night. While I am used to hearing gun shots in the fall I would have been quite disturbed to be awakened by gun shots close to my house. Maybe the office issuing these year round permits should notify the owners of the surrounding properties of the areas where night hunting is legal all year. I agree with :well” : to point a gun at a heavily armed group of people is not a smart idea; but then if you don’t know what is going on – to go defenseless would have been stupid also.

High fences don’t work @thinker they have been tried and the deer always find there way threw around or over some how or another…… Looks like this whole thing could have been avoided if people would have minded there own business
