Not excusing anyone that is responsible for horse abuse, but with our local economy as it is, people are actually letting their horses go (as in taking them for a ride, and releasing them, hoping someone would rescue them, and the owners can remain annonomos.) There needs to be a campaign of public awareness. The general public must know what to do when or if they find themselves in a situation where they financially cannot afford to properly care for their horses. I know there has to be at least 1 program to take someone’s horses and auction these horses to fund the program. I have lived in north Escambia for 29 years and I do not know of any program that helps with horses that belong to people who can no longer afford to care for them.

so sad horses have to put up with stupied people like this.his bond was to low in the first place.until they pass laws for a stiffer punishment its gona keep happening.so sad for smarty but thank god hes in a good foster home. If it wasnt for equine rescue he would be dead by now. so sad for a beautiful horse. If youre not gona feed or water at least ask for help,someone will come and get your horse if you cant feed it or wont feed it,theyres always help out there.thank god for the people that reported this animal.theyre are heros out there some where.

He would come to the fence behind us sometimes I bought food and hay for him. Then I didn’t see him any more. Seen it on ne and cryed. I miss him he was a sweet baby. Thank you PER for all you do. Glad he’s in a better place. Good luck Smarty u deserve it!!!!! For the man that Had him u should b a shame of urself.

The more I see the more disgusted I become with the increasing depravity of human beings. God gave man dominion over the animals He created and He WILL hold man responsible for mistreating His creation. Where in the world is compassion in these people? SCARY!!! They should receive a much stiffer punishment, for sure. Disgusting and so very heart wrenching and sad.

You’ll be happy to know that Smarty is now healthy and happy at his foster home. He has a big pasture to run full bore (which he does a lot) like the Mustang that he is, plenty to eat and a donkey buddy named Jasper. He ’s spoiled with treats almost every day. Credit PER with saving him and offering him to his new forever home. He’s absolutely beautiful.
