David Huie Green hit the nail on the head. This is all about the money (funding). Florida used be be considered a leader when it comes to education, but too much politics is killing our education system.

Why is this even an issue? Can we please stop messing with education? Honestly, people are tired of getting screwed with. If you want more money to fund "great" colleges, then create capital. How about the state open it's mind to what is working for other states, and maybe try getting ahead of the curve for once? Or else the entire state will be like Pensacola, strictly customer service based work because of things like tourism and low education/skills.

The whole education system is implemented upside down. Young people need to get an education, before they have kids. Just like in other countries students right out of High School should be afforded the opportunities to earn degrees or get training that will enable them to earn a decent living and be productive citizens at a reasonable cost. The US system is designed to offer this chance only to single individuals with children that they are not able to support. It costs a whole lot more to provide free child care, housing, etc. in addition to free tuition.
If we get our priorities straight, we would not have the poverty and all the problems associated with it.

A lot of people have a full time job and take courses at night toward a degree. This legislation would limit their opportunity to pursue higher degrees.
