Guv Scott was merely being the capitalist pig that he is/was/will always be, trying to drum up business for his [wife's] business investments-- in drug testing labs.

@debugger

Not that I'm supporting this political nightmare, but you mentioned something that is just not true, and that is "making it harder to vote". Exactly how?

When I was growing up, you had ONE DAY to vote. You either dragged your butt out of the house and voted, or you simply did not vote. You could not use an absentee ballot unless you were out of state!! Now, we have early voting, regular voting, and you can even vote absentee while still in your own home! So how the heck did he make it HARDER to vote?

Hate to say it, but that the democratic drivel I've been hearing for the last couple of years because their party members seem to be too lazy to go out and vote. They want us to roll the polling booths up to their door!

Okay, almost $1M that we shouldn't have spent on a losing battle. But I stand by what several people have said. If I can be subjected to random tests for drugs on my PRIVATE job - the source of the money for both the State workers' jobs and the free money received through the TANF program - why shouldn't they be subjected to it? Privacy is privacy REGARDLESS of whom is breaching it.

I'd rather see a governor spend a million dollars in an attempt to level the playing field (that is, no exemptions from what is needed anyway) than give away another million to people who abuse the system and/or show up to work high as a Georgia pine and risk the safety of those around them.

Seems like ACLU is the one to blame. We should have a drug free Florida work force.

That's "Li'l Ricky Scott", ladies and gentlemen~

"In Scott's Florida, it is harder for citizens to vote and for the jobless to collect unemployment. It is easier for renters to be evicted and for borrowers to be charged high interest rates on short-term loans. It is harder for patients to win claims against doctors who hurt them and for consumers to get fair treatment from car dealers who deceive them. It is easier for businesses to avoid paying taxes, building roads and repairing environmental damage."
