@Dennis I read your post before commenting and reread your post after you commented the second time and I’m pretty sure you don’t say anything about owning a gun yourself and Infact you make it sound as if you’re anti gun. I’m only a college graduate with an AAS so I guess it’s possible I havent quite learned how to read yet.

@Avis, your comment is as scurrilous and tasteless as it is ridiculous and repugnant. You are taking a story about two actual true blue heroes that actually put their lives on the line and actually protected their community (that’s the job, right?) and politicizing into a tool to lash out at what you consider “cop haters”

It’s disgusting. You dishonor the two brave officers with your absurd and baseless notion. Cops will never buckle down under “media scrutiny”. Any cursory examination of police procedure quickly reveals that blues care very little about public opinion. Your baseless assertion is completely without merit.

There is only one thing that will deter cops from killing nonviolent unarmed citizens, and it is not multi million dollar civil lawsuits that they don’t have to personally pay for. Nor will paid time off in the form of “administrative leave” gonna slow ”em down.

There is only one thing that will deter cops from summarily executing people on camera, and that thing is: scumbag murderers like Michael Slager winding up where they belong, on death row.

If nobody could carry weapons without breaking the law, only lawbreakers would be carrying weapons (by definition). If there were no lawbreakers, insane people, invaders or tyrants, that wouldn’t be a problem.

Even those who show disdain for civil rights such as the right to keep and bear arms are frightening. If they would ignore one right, what is to stop them from ignoring all other rights?

I dread the day when police officers choose NOT to fire when they ought to in order to avoid media scrutiny, investigation after investigation, suspension, and who knows what other consequences. He/she doesn’t need more mental clutter to filter through when it’s time for a swift decision.

The liberal anti-gun left is trying to win their case by “more than one way to skin a cat” procedural nonsense.

What will you do when all police officers are sent home to await an investigation and scrutiny of their actions? What will you do when no one wants that job any more? What will you do when nobody answers your 9-1-1 call? Who will protect you? Remember, you don’t have any guns.

@Dennis What are you talking about? This story neither had a gun weilding assailant or private citizen in it. As far as us gun toting folks leaving our guns on the night stand or under our front seats..I have a permit to carry a gun and do so. I am a single lady with children and I carry to protect myself and my family. God forbid things happen and I need to use it and it not be on my side. I’d rather be safe than sorry which is a concept that seems to elude you. Btw I also had a “pretty” little safe installed flush, under the passenger floorboard of my Tahoe for situations when I have to leave it in the truck. It’s called being a responsible gun owner.

P.S Don’t like guns then dont buy one. Hopefully someone who does will be around to save your life if ever you need it. Just sayin’

It’s a shame the deputy was severly injured by this individual.
Can’t imagine how hard it must be trying to determine when to fire to protect yourself and others.
