We are fast pushing the U.S. Dependence to other countries on our oil and gas business. The people voting on bills like this do not do their homework before voting on important bills such as this.

It is very bad. It is why there was a loophole in the federal laws that is called the Haliburton Loophole that prevented the public from knowing the chemicals used. This will contaminate the aquifers and underground water if allowed to proceed. There s also some studies that show nearly half of the wells start leaking in a few short years.

Just for the record, an acid job is not the same as a frack job.
Acid dissolves carbonates or phosphates to improve permeability.
Hydraulic fracturing mechanically fractures rock with high pressure to improve permeability.
The idea is still to let fluids flow through rock easier, but one is chemical and the other is mechanical.
Acid jobs are common with public water wells, using souped-up Chlorox to kill bacteria around the well in the aquifer. (They aren’t dangerous but reduce flow.)

I wonder how much of the water and chemicals is pumped back up with the oil and gas, and how much is left behind. I don’t know much about fracking, but it seems like a lot of work to be a profitable business.
