Bail is not the punishment, it is not meant to teach someone a lesson. Bail is a deposit to insure people show up in court, and can vary a lot. It backs a promise to appear. If you show up in court it is returned to you. (or the bail bondsman if you use one) The fine is what happens IN court, and you don't get it back! Seem to be some confusion between bail and a fine. Also, twelve students onboard, and I bet at least ten of them had cell phones with cameras. Hit the bus, oops sorry. Leave the scene? Stupid stupid stupid.
