what happend was ferry pass and everyone eles in that area was at the fire on olive road, and we (beulah) moved up for coverage, we were at ferry pass’ station, when we got the call, then we moved out to the fire, and were the first on scene.

The call logs from the years past will paint the true story.. It went waay downhill since they started with the paid firemen and began treating the Vols as lower class citizens.. If they want a paid dept. make sure there’s enough of them to do the task at hand.. It isn’t getting done.. That’s sad

Three of my Brothers were with FPVF.. One was 701, The Chief.. I have a scanner and can hear the calls go out.. Before the county commissioners ruined the dept. when a call went out there was multiple trucks rolling right away and people still at the station on standby.. It isn’t the same anymore.. The firehouse doesn’t even look the same as far as upkeep.. The blame should be placed on the county commissioners because that’s where the buck stops.. They screwed up a perfectly good fire dept..

Trucks had to come from other stations farther away due to the fact that there were not enough VOLUNTEERS at one station to man a fire truck. This is sad but also shows a continuing downturn of people not interested in volunteering not to mention risking their life for some one else. A very sad situation. Much of the younger generation are not nearly as interested in civic duties as they are videos games and movies.

No where on here does it say who was first on scene. Just because Beulah is pictured does not mean that. For all you know both houses were probably fully involved by the time the call was made.

The City Council can waste money on frivolous things for tourism, but can’t support more paid firemen and Fire Departments. At least one of the responding Fire departments is all volunteer.

The 1st fire was around 5 something in the morning, the 3 companies you mentioned were more than likely still at the 5 am fire and wrapping it up when the alarm for the 2nd one on Caminetti, Beulah was more than likely moved up to Ensley for coverage thats why they were 1st on scene and the others were released from the other fire not long after.

First to arrive were from Beulah? It is no wonder the house never had a chance. Why were not Ferry Pass, Brent, or Ensley the first to arrive? Beulah is clear on the other side of town. I live just down the street from this house; that is not too reassuring to think if I were in need, that I would have to wait that long for help.
