Dept. of Corrections is always needing someone, the medical HMO ins. isn't but 180.00 a month for whole family, no matter the size of family, plus vision & dental, vision no more than 20.00 & dental, can't remember what we pay but I don't think it's over 80.00 per month, on our plan, we use closest dentist in robertsdale last I checked. Years ago we had to fall back on Florida kid care & paid like 2 hundred something a month just for our 2 kids, so you might consider a state job just for the ins.

They don;t provide adequate coverage (at least provider wise). We have been fighting with them about the dental coverage for almost six months. They finnaly threatened to cancel ALL of the insurance if we did not get her in immediately for her scheduled check-ups.

The fun part is that the "ONLY" dentist they would assign her to for our "area", of ALL dentists in state.... is in Fort Lauderdale! I have explained several times that I am not going to take a 10 hour road trip to get my daughters teeth cleaned!

And I know of other parents in this area that are being forced to use providers in Tallahassee and Jacksonville!

And before anyone starts throwing the "Get a job" or "pay for your own" soapbox... as my full time job offers coverages that exceed what is required by the state it is almost impossible for me to find coverage with other providers. However, it would be almost $900 per month (or 2/3 of my income) for me to provide health insurance for my family of five through my companies insurance.
