Wife’s cousin got hit at that location going west.witnesses proved the bars didn’t come down and no signal,about 15 years ago.he survived.BUT,the law says not to stop on the tracks.I think the fine is greater than speeding in a school zone.

If there is a car already stopped at the red light you are supposed to stop east of the railroad tracks if you are going west whether the bars are up or down-Look at the markings on the road people. If you are going east you should stop west of the tracks if traffic is stopped trying to turn left on the two side streets east of the tracks. You never stop on railroad tracks bars up or down. There use to be a sign telling you that, don’t know if it still is.

I have been stopped at that light many times, you barely have room for 2 vehicles between light and RR crossing I have had on a few occasions people stopped behind me on the actual tracks.

The max authorized speed which is enforced by gps is 49mph at kingsfield rd. If you cannot get across the tracks without stopping dont try. Most trains will need a mile or more to stop when the emergency brakes are applied. Trains weigh millions of pounds people. How about some common sense. You wouldnt pull out in front of an 18 wheeler would you? When we speed we get fired.

Since we have a rr employee amongst us. What is the speed limit for trains in more populated areas? Sure seems like they are moving pretty fast around the kingsfield road area. It would be terrible if the train was exceeding its max allowable speed just to make up some time. The faster you go the longer you are going to slide on those tracks if the unexpected happens.

Coming from ” being involved ” railroad tracks are private property !!!! If you don’t have a green light, then you should not be stopping or even cautiously going over railroad tracks. Search google. Trains don’t stop like cars. Don’t bring railroad employees in your death wish. Just because you barely make it and giggle because its such a rush, don’t mean we can go home and giggle with you. It sux to be behind that engine and see stupid decisions everyday. If you don’t have the smarts to comprehend that, then stay off the road

Its not usually a matter of trying to beat the train at that intersection, its a matter of getting stuck at the red light on that short piece of road between the red light and train track. If you get stuck behind someone stopping on a yellow light it leaves you close to the tracks. He obviously wasnt on the tracks or there would have been alot more damage to the vehicle. He just got stuck between the vehicle stopped at light and the train right of way behind him.

don’t stop on the tracks, whether a train is coming or not. This is why – you get trapped by stopped traffic. That driver is extremely fortunate.

That’s where most wrecks with the trains happen . the train stop before the crossing to stop at the circle k , and then wants they start to go , the bars come down last minute . I’ve seen it happen. A lot before and me and my boyfriend and daughter were almost a victim of it .
