I spoke with Luckys new Owner today. He showed me where the Blood Trail Originated. I set the trip on my truck to see how far it was to the nearest residence from the Blood Trail. It was exactly 1/2 Mile to the nearest Driveway After seeing for myself that the Blood Trail Clearly Starts in the Middle of the road and then leads off to the right of the road into the grass and heads straight behind the Telephone pole, I can say with Certainty that this Dog wasn't shot for chasing Chickens or anything else for that matter. I now believe Lucky was shot for the Heck of it. And for those who care, Lucky is doing fine. He is now receiving the love he deserves.

Wow, did anyone actually read the story here? It doesn't say anywhere in there that the dog was shot for coming on the property or doing anything malicious. It says the property owner found the dog curled up with a gun shot and a blood trail. I would assume that most likely, it was idiot that got a puppy because it was cute but as it grew up they didn't or couldn't train it (remember this is an idiot) so they decided to get rid of it. Being an idiot they decided to shoot the dog and dump it however idiots can't shoot well so all they did was terribly injure the poor dog that was already in jeopardy from being dumped off. Now this is just an assumption and it is not in the story. Living and working in the north end I see dumped and ignored dogs all the time. I too have a neighbor that will not keep up with their own dogs. they are nice dogs but they basically live at my house. I have no idea why they even insist on having dogs. Previous dogs of theirs killed all my chickens and I had to start my flock all over again. Now why wouldn't they be happy with just not having dogs? I can only assume it goes back to the earlier part of my post.

How many of your neighbors have you buried? Lol Sorry, I knew what you meant, but the wording was too good to pass up the opportunity.

I can see both sides to this story. I had a pit bull come in my yard last year, go into the bushes only to find a stray cat that had a litter of kittens. The pit killed everyone of those kittens. This was a Sunday morning. I ran out and tried to help the kitten to no avail. The dog then came up to me wagging his tail and being friendly with me. Ironically, as upset as I was about the kittens, I approached the dog. I could tell he was someone's pet. He had a collar on but no identification. I called Animal Control who told me to detain the dog as it would be sometime before they could come out to my house. I did. Gave him some water and cat food (that was all I had), Ironically, the dog was a very sweet dog and I realized this dog was only doing what dog do. I don't condone what he did-but I know he did what dogs do. Animal Control came out and got him. I felt guilty about calling them. Went to check on the dog Tuesday as they are closed on Monday. They have a policy or did that they keep an animal for 5 days for the owner to pick up before they euthanize. However, they told me the dog had been adopted. Hadnt been but two days. I was told by someone that more than likely, the dog had been put down and not adopted due to the fact that he had killed the kittens. That dog was just being a dog. People who think they can just go out and kill someone's animal whether it is a cat or dog are cruel ppl. Yeah, if they are trying to kill your chickens or whatever, there are other means of running them off-other than killing them. Yes, animals do become family members. I do know there are ppl are there who kill cats/dogs for sport. Like traumaqueen states "monsters who live among us." Thank goodness for the family that is taking care of Lucky.

We have dogs, have always had dogs, and always will always have dogs, they are like our children, and have ranged from 7 lbs to 165 lbs In fact we have a graveyard full of the pets we have loved over the past 42 yrs, and it holds some of our neighbors too.

We think it is responsible and neccessary to keep our property fenced, and maintain our loved ones within the area, They do not have to be penned, tied and have freedom to run and protect our property as needed.....They are also under our frequent watch, when the are outside, They are in at night with us,
If neccesary they can be penned outside in their pens, briefly and only on occassion that is neccessary.

If one cannot be a responsible pet owner they should not have a pet.
shooting any dog unless he is endangering your life, is immature, irresponisble and cruel, God help such a criminal

Sounds like there a number of menaces in that neighborhood.

Barney Fife in Cottage Hill needs to read and heed these comments. There was a news article recently about a man mauled and killed by his pit bull mix.
