First off, prayers to the family. I hope there were not children involved. Secondly, this was a Domestic Violence incident which is different from street crime. While I do believe that crime is up, there’s no way the Sheriffs Dept can be in every home in Escambia County.

The difference between a high-crime area, a low-crime area and a nearly no-crime area: In a high-crime area only a small fraction of the violent crime that occurs gets reported as “news” (unless, of course the victim was a minority and the perpetrator was white – then the news is saturated with it). In a low-crime area nearly all violent crime is reported (due to a lack of other sensational news). In a nearly no-crime area, no violent crime is reported because the government controls the press (and everything else) much like Cuba, the USSR, Nazi Germany, Spain under Franco or any other country whose leader is allowed to do whatever he wants whenever he wants. Be happy that we are still a low-crime area.

I live in this area and it is a very good quiet area however domestic violence happens EVERYWHERE so there is no way anyone can blame law enforcement for that! This type of crime can happen in the poorest and the richest areas. This time of year can often be a difficult time for people and I just pray for the families of both parties involved.

CRIME NUMBERS MIGHT BE DOWN FOR THE FIRST 6 MONTH OF 2014 but the way things are being reported lately it is sure to increase for the next 6 months. Some want to point the finger and blame the SHERIFF but as bad as I was done in this COUNTY I still can’t see where the public can blame the SHERIFF. He doesn’t have ESP so how can he foresee what is going to happen at any given time. There has to have been a study done to define the times certain types of crimes are done and the most he can do is put more on patrol at that given time period or areas so the crooks can see their presence and maybe the culprit would change their mind but there is no way for anyone to foresee this type of crime taking place especially when it is done behind closed doors. I’m sure this one was done from planning by the culprit if no more than just a short time and not telling anyone about the plans before it happened to allow someone to intervene to prevent it from happening. I guess there will have to be more hard nosed JUDGES to follow the guidelines and hand out stiffer sentences for the culprits and keep them locked up –better to cost the tax payers to house these longer rather than have them to continue the same evil way. There is virtually no rehabilitation in the penal system–I know because I was there but rather a school where the criminals get together to talk about where their crime went wrong to get caught and figuring out what they will have to do next time to avoid getting caught. I feel for the victims and their families in all crimes but what else can I do but be vigilant and be aware of my surroundings at all times to protect myself and others in the close proximity. JUST US FOR ALL.

I know seriously, darn near every time I get on this web site I read about a shooting or a murder or a dead body found somewhere or a robbery , or some kind of assault, it is all the time,and also car accidents on 29 ,come on people this is serious stuff and I for one want to stay alive, im sure the shooting are drug related it sure ain’t over a loaf of bread even tho some day soon it may be,so protect yourselves people and yes help us all Jesus ,,,, and PLEASE pay attention to your driving ,you all scare me.

Crime may be down in Escambia County but shootings not so much. Arm up America, unless you want to be a statistic for this “low crime area”.
