That is why all these signs all over the schools and businesses that say "no weapons allowed" are useless. If a person has the mindset to bring a weapon of any kind wherever he or she is going, he or she will do it regardless of the laws, much less signs that are posted about it. It does seem like it ought to be obvious "don't bring weapons to school," but it can happen without malicious intent. At my school back in the 90s, two senior girls brought paring knives in their lunch to cut up their apples. A knife is still a knife, so they were suspended the same as some idiot showing off a firearm at school would be. I’m glad no one was reported as being hurt in this incident.

It does seem like it ought to be obvious “don’t bring weapons to school,” but it can happen without malicious intent.
