was up in brewton today 9-2-14 and it was 3.15 a gallon/ florida always jacks up the prices

Total supply affects the price.
If there is plenty, the price goes down because buyers can pick and choose.
If there is little, the price goes up because buyers need a certain amount and are willing to pay more.

Total demand affects the price.
If few were using gasoline, the producers would have to cut prices to sell any at all.
If more and more are using more and more (say China and India, for example), the producers have people competing to buy whatever is available..

And it all happens at once, all around the world.

On the other hand, if war cuts off supply of fuel, those on the downstream side can get desperate pretty soon.
Those on the upstream side still have fuel.

That’s why not having to depend on places like Africa or the Middle East (and not funding terrorism in the process) is a better thing.

AND:
“Gas price should be less than 2.00 dollars a gallon !!!!”

To me, gasoline SHOULD cost 32 cents/gallon, the first price I remember, back when a comic book cost ten cents. Nowadays comic books cost around three dollars, or thirty times as much. Based on that, gasoline should also cost thirty times as much or $9.60/gallon of premium leaded.

Some years later I paid $120 for a scientific calculator and 67 cents/gallon or regular. Now a good scientific calculator runs under $12, so gasoline should be one tenth what it was then or 6.7 cents/gallon.

There IS no magic price.

Pipeline won’t do anything to lower the price of gasoline … It will be shipped out of our country to the open market.. Oil production is being monopolized by a few corporations , including OPEC along with more importantly gas refineries that are unregulated so it doesn’t matter what happens we will continued to be ripped off from now on because we have to have gas to survive in this economy and gas companies know just how far they can push us!! Remember the talk about drilling more in the U.S. And we won’t be dependent on foreign oil ? Guess what we’re producing more here now and the prices haven’t dropped any!! Gas price should be less than 2.00 dollars a gallon !!!!

Ever since Ivan gas prices have doubled then tripled.. We are being robbed and taking it like the the little sheep we are.. We are PATHECTIC..!!!!!

What is the breakdown on taxes per gallon of gasoline?
Realize that Station X has different cost from Station Y but shouldn’t the cost per gallon for Fed, State, Local taxes be the same on the fuel?

If X charges $3.36 / gal
and
If Y charges $3.50 / gal
the local sales tax will be different.

More than likely taxes I am not even thinking of.

Big whoop. We should be paying less than $2.00 a gallon. Obama needs to sign the Keystone Pipeline Bill, approved by both the Hoise and the Senate, that has been o his desk for almost 4 years now. Guess he doesn’t want to take anything away from his pals and supporters in the Middle East.
