Maybe this will open the door for more industry in the area. The lack of jobs as compared to the number of people keeps wages low and keeps me in Louisiana and Texas for the majority of the year. There’s the occasional job at home that demands highly skilled Welders and pays close to acceptable wages, but I would like to be able to work around the house and be with my family year round.

Amen to your comment, Johnny Skullkracker. I have lived here all of my life, and have always had to leave town to find a job that paid decent wages.And its because the retirees who move here are willing to vote against any jobs that might disrupt their little blue heaven, never mind that the natives of the place can’t find work that pays more than minimum wage.

The eye this company has to be located at the port because they install piping systems on ships. Be glad there are companies like this coming to our area, look at all of the industry that passes us by for Mobile. Not all citizens of Pensacola are retired military or lifelong food stamp recipients. Some people would like to work here close to home and make a decent wage.

Escambia county already has some of the worst air quality in the state. I can only hope that the city has looked very closly at the enviromental impact a manufacturing facility will have on our Historic district and dowtown area. We got rid of one stinky problem already , lets not replace it with another. There are other places in the county that could accommodate a factory.
