i spoke with the folks at southern mill yesterday- dont wait until the end of the month to get your feed, as they are shuting down production (on what they mix) sooner than the 30th- best to call and check for sure though…..and they are offering a 15% discount on some store items currently…on another hopeful note, what is needed for the mill to stay up and running is for some insightful, willing, visionary, or a group of visionaries, to come up with “ROUGHLY” $400,000.00 of investment funds to take it over- to include inventory, machinery, buildings and property…..the hardworking, seasoned, young men that are currently employed at Southern Mill also have high hopes that the mill will continue to stay open, keeping them employed and productive…..agressive word of mouth, as well as plenty of heartfelt prayers, will go a long way towards keeping this truely valuable and greatly needed northend enterprise operational….”if you buy it, they will come”…slightly modified from Field of Dreams – true, nonetheless

Oh NO!!! Sad news to hear! You will be missed! We are praying for someone to reopen and continue to serve our North-end Community. You carried so much more than Hay and Feed…loved to come in and see your new stock,chat and just enjoyed the fellowship. Will miss you so much.

I’ve bought my feed at Southern Mill & Supply for almost 4 years now. I had the utmost respect for Mr. Lester an his wife. They are the nicest people you’d ever want to meet as well as all of their employees. I’ve always bragged to everyone regarding how neat an clean as a pin the entire feed store is. I am very saddened to hear of the closing. May God bless you Mrs. Lambright, you are in my prayers.

This is so sad! Will the place be sold? Hoping someone will be buying and reopening it! We really need a feed supply in the north end, Barnes feed and cantonment feed are great but Dixie feed has so much space for greater selection and to offer more then just feed! The right manager and the right advertising could really keep this place going!

I want to take this opportunity to commend Joseph for his loyalty to Mr. Lambright’s endeavor and dream.
When hired last April to load bags (his first job) , I’m sure he could never have imagined that a mere eight months later would find him literally ” handed the keys” (i.e. the responsibility) to a full fledged feed business.
Sans training, preparation or choice!
Many in his position would have “sought other employment’— but he did not walk away. Instead, he “lived it’, learned all he could, as as fast as he could, and gave it all he had. Loyalty and commitment are rare these days, so I wanted to say to Joseph and the other young men that have kept things going these past few months. Good job!! God Bless and we’ll miss y’all.

Sorry to hear about the closing. You guys are great to have served Molino. I thank you for your advise on information that has helped me better my horses. I truly miss Lester, Any question I had for him, if he didn’t know right away he would search and find the answer. The rest of the crew that has ran the mill are always friendly and so kind. You will be missed. Many Blessing to all of you.

very disappointed to hear this- lester carried a huge load and somehow, he and the staff were able to keep it up and running like a fine tuned machine…i was always quite impressed at the turn around from dixie feed mill to southern mill…he put so much work into that place…you all will be sadly missed.
