Why so many complaints? Obviously, the demand is there or Dollar General wouldn’t waste their time and money. If you aren’t happy with development–even on the Highway–maybe you should move somewhere the demand isn’t?

@ JCELLOPS Guessing you don’t see that huge triangle between the store and the road that says ‘ Stormwater Management Area ‘

All you complainers, lets make sure we DON’T see you in the store shopping, once you’ve passed the Cantonment store on your way home and forgot something you needed. Family Dollar just isnt the same. Keep Em Coming, Hope the next one’s in Enon ! It’s a 10 mile drive to my store.

I live in the subdivision a block west of this area and cannot imagine a store there. There is no turn lane off 29 in either direction and traffic is always coming fast. I put my blinker on for a full block before turning to caution other drivers that I’m slowing down to turn. Turning left off 29 often results in sitting stopped on 29 if other cars are in the median. Folks, this is a traffic disaster in the making. That property should be strictly residential. I vote no, but seriously doubt our upstanding county officials really care.

Can anyone imagine the delivery trucks getting in here? Has no one been stopped by the semis coming out of Winn Dixie? I know I have. A semi turning into this area from 29 will hold up traffic in both directions. Hope no one catches the Cantonment Train and then has to deal with a semi truck for Dollar General haha. Semis coming through the neighborhood will break down roads not made for heavy trucks (I actually believe there is a “No Truck” Sign at the entrance of this neighborhood off well line). I lived there as a child and the entire road was Truck Drivers. None of them were allowed to bring their trailers into the neighborhood. Not to mention its a residential area. Tons of children, church activities ect will be competing for the right of way.

Yep, there IS a Dollar General in Gonzalez and there IS a Family Dollar store in Cantonment.
Which is similar to saying there is NOT a Dollar General in what I think of as Cantonment.

Do we need some governmental agency dictating just one per ten miles or per county?

We have people arguing there are too many already so nobody would shop there along with some thinking they would be so busy there would be wrecks caused by people in a hurry to shop there and fire trucks couldn’t get out because of the shoppers.

of note: according to a news report from several days ago, family dollar will be closing stores, eliminating jobs and reducing prices…out of 8100 stores nationwide, 370 poor performing stores will be closing during this year…perhaps we may need this little store, afterall…i dont see on the graphic where the retention pond would be…behind the store on the west side would be best (out of view)…personally, i wish that it was going to be a sonic…or a dairy queen

Hey we need it built half way down Muscogee Road…better yet what happen to the land on Jack’s Branch Road that was to contain a shopping center? Too much on hwy 29 now makes traffic jams a headache….
