Tax incentives, credits, etc. Bring businesses in. However Escambia county cares very little about bringing good jobs to our area.

Well that is going to sure make Walmart happy!!!

There will no longer be any reason to shop at Amazon unless they reduce the prices to offset the sales tax.

Will not be renewing my Prime Membership either this year because they jacked the price up on it as well.

Bye, bye Amazon, it was fun while it lasted……

Given how Amazon Fulfillment Centers work, they tend to get placed based on proximity to locations where Amazon receives large numbers of orders. That’s most likely why they’re going on the I-4 corridor. That gives Amazon the ability to get orders to Tampa/Orlando and the rest of Central Florida quickly. If Pensacola/Mobile area was larger, we’d probably be competitive for one.

Taxes are taxes and they help fund the state government from whom many good things come and some waste too.

And, persons making purchases from pre-Florida Amazon were supposed to have already been voluntarily paying the sales tax….to my knowledge that was not enforced up until May 1st.

Major complaint from us should be that this was not built in Northwest Florida in an area where jobs would be available to our citizens, and taxpayers. “More than 1,000 jobs” wouldn’t that be welcome news for Escambia / Santa Rosa counties?

Wonder if our area ever had a chance at landing this operation?
