Careers sometimes follow if they like the work. I had an uncle who joked he was looking for a "position". Folks started to tell him of jobs they had available for him. He repeated he wanted a POSITION, not a job. (He had already retired from three careers and was working at small scale gardening at the time, which paid as weii as he wanted.) Most aren’t looking for careers when going there, they are looking for work — a paying job.
