If this is permitted, we'll no longer need to drive to Panama City to the Ag office. However, we also will sharing gun ownership data with the county and state if this comes to pass, so don't for a second think that they won't find or legitimize a way to report our guns to other county and state and federal entities......including the sheriff's office, insurance commissioner, police departments, etc., by granting access to the weapons permit data. The tax collector, having the records of all property owners and a state-wide database licensed drivers and identification card holders, would constitute a de facto state-wide gun registration database for permit applicants.

I'd rather take the drive to Panama City because current legislation mandates no sharing of who has a weapons permit.

I think the NRA blew it on this one.

I think this is a great idea if it helps people get their permits faster. I would expect the extra charges is to pay the Tax Collector for the use of their building and resources. If someone does not want to pay a few dollars more, then they can wait through the normal channels. Nobody is forcing them to use this option. At least Florida is looking at other options. Luckily...I have mine and don't have to worry about it.

All for it...EXCEPT the additional charges they want to shove down the taxed enough already citizens. Use the trust fund money, the coffers are going to have a continual flow of money anyway. The oh by the way extra fees is no courtesy to the taxpayer...

I hope they do this. I got mine 2 years ago. I had to wait 3 months for an appointment. They said it would take 90 days to process, but I got mine in 53 days.
