I don’t believe it..I was in s court room today and watched a judge release a young man to custody of his parents in which he. Has violated his probation twice and just got charged with shooting up someone’s house.

I could not agree more with Kenneth. I work in and adult correctional facility, and many of those individuals require enrollment in GED programs. Many have very poor literacy skills, even if they have a high school diploma. A good foundations does help to deter crime later in life for many of these individuals. Parents, watch who your children are friends with! They exert a tremendous influence on each other. Unfortunately, the bad tend to rub off on the good, not the other way around.

All that has been done is manipulation of the numbers. Instead of arrest, they are now issuing “Civil Citations”. I work in the Juvenile Courthouse. The teens and their offenses are as bad as ever. To turn a kid around you must help change the environment he lives in and ensure that child can do the routine things well, such as reading. We need to invest some serious time, though and effort into to ensuring ALL of our children can read and are proficient in mathematics. WE need to ALL take interest in this because what’s down the street or over there can easily find its way to your neighborhood or home. I remember a recent crime spree in Molino where all of the juvenile suspects lived south of Muscogee Road. Real effort, not just a manipulation of the numbers, needs to be put into change.
