REGARDING:
“The 1998 law lets the state indefinitely keep violent sexual predators behind bars by requiring them to undergo a review for the risk of re-offending and to be committed at a secured treatment facility after completing their sentences.”

Good law.

Known dangers remain known dangers until such time as known to no longer be dangers. This is independent of punishment for a particular crime and should not be limited to sexual predators. When a person is avoiding prosecution for assorted crimes because he or she is deemed mentally defective and violent, that person should not be prowling the streets until the situation is cured.

I agree Everett!!! Why waste all the tax payers money keeping these animals in prisons living better than a lot of folks!!
If there is no doubt of an animals convection put um to death with end 5 years max. Inject um, fry um or better yet plant some big oak trees at our court houses and have public hangin’s. I bet some would think twice before committing an hanis crime if we brought back the oak trees!!

I agree with Everett. Executions should be performed by hanging, electrocution, firing squad, gas chamber, or guillotine. Make it very unpleasent and something to be feared and avoided by criminals. People who think about murder don’t fear the lethal injection because it’s not painful and it takes 20+ years on average. And the guy who killed a prison guard in 1980 should have been executed long ago. Really? 1980?

So we have two problems with today’s captial punishment: the method isn’t feared and the time period waiting on Death Row is much too long. Make 2014 the year that these problems get fixed!

Rick Scott seems to be the only voice of reason in government (or one of the few) Here is makes sure that a sentence is carried out, completed, finished. In another article he is calling for drug testing for welfare. The comments on this site prove to me that common sense is also the majority in this area. We the voters should remember him during elections.

16 years to maybe have justice served. This little boy he killed would be 27 today. This animal has lived to see 16 Christmas and new years come and go. The little boy has had flowers put on his grave each of those years.
Go back to public hanging. Make it a public event. But make it quick also. 16 years is a little long.
