Why was the Wild West and Dodge City so peaceful? Because people DID have firearms and help ensure the peace. Washington DC, Chicago and friends today all have many times rate of violence than in the "old days". Actually the Wild West and Dodge City were very, very peaceful and the shootouts depicted in Hollywood’s movies where, well, staged for good movie making not for historical content.
