How about raise the sales tax to 8%. Take the 1/2 % and use it to up grade all water lines in Escambia county. Then put in fire hydrants were needed. The ins. you save will more than pay that 1/2 cent you pay.
It's your home, your business or your church.
The firemen needs this today.

In my haste of being a proud mom I neglected to say that I am very proud of all the people involved in this call. Without them working as a team on every call they get things would not work out as well. I am thankful for all of you who put your lives on the line each and everyday for family, friends and strangers no matter what the situation occurs you are there to serve the community. Thanks to all and may God bless you and keep you safe.

So thankful the residents were able to get out safely and their pets were saved by the wonderful EMS at work. Especially proud of Jody, son of our daughter's God parent's.
They may be just family pets to those of us reading this story, but to the owners of these pets, they are most likely their family, so I can just imagine how happy they were to know they didn't loose their family in that fire too.

The pets are safe and part of the home was saved. As stated there are a lot things that could be done with the four cent gas tax to improve Escambia county all over. We see first that the water lines in this area are not large enough to furnish water probably on a daily basis to the homes let alone to give fire fighters enough to put out house fires. Sorry to say that after working with public funds myself for years--there seems at times there is just not enough to go around. There are a lot of salaries and large one (just saying) to pay and Tax increases barely keep up with increases in pay. As an individual I doubt that the four cents in gas tax that I will pay this year in Escambia county will even be enough to buy one School Bus tire and the rest if us maybe a tire and a half. What do we do but just pay up. With less and less big industries in the U,S, to bring in new money to sell to other countries (like more grain and Coal etc.) we have more and more people working on Public money and doing People services. Sort of like selling to each other just to stay in business. Just can't say too much about people on public funds as If you look around they are your neighbors (School teachers, Contractors, Hospitals and Doctors-and nurses - in part and all the other Federal, County and City employees all over etc. We all pay taxes. On election day we elect the people (at the time) we think are going to do us the best job by using their expertise in business and management and just good old common sense to look out for the operation of government. Sometimes (a lot of time) we get fooled.

I'm off my stump now........
