Your beefs with Nine Mile and Pine Forest south of Nine Mile lie with the state of Florida. Not county roads, they are state maintained roads.

This is really disturbing. Topeka Road is a narrow, quite, dead end street. It connects to Chemstrand Road between 9 Mile and Johnson Avenue. Chemstrand Road will end up being the main artery for traffic and it can barely handle what it has now. A couple of people have been killed on Chemstrand in the last several years because it is poorly lit, open ditches (very close to the pavement in places) and NO sidewalks. When this project was first made public, the intention was to make Airway the access road. It is an improvesd road with sidewalks and closed drainage. If Topeka is used, it will RUIN the existing neighborhood and cause untold traffic problems. Topeka will need sidewalks and other improvements as well. Make the developer PAY!

I attended State meet asking why 4 lane 9 mile from Pine forest to Mobile hwy when it so desperately needed between pine forest & 29?

They sent me a letter this week not really answering my question, FDOT traffic 16600 compared to 24,600 you would think it was a no brainer?

actually, only 8000 past Navy Fed.

SO we 4 lane a hwy that has half the traffic and (Nay Fed to Mobile hwy) a 1/3 the traffic?

SOMEOME PLEASE TELL ME WHY?

I’m almost certain area resident is trying to get the commissioners to prevent the same thing happening on 9 Mile.

@ Mike: A lot of the local inhabitants of this area may not pick up jobs in this development, but they will have the chance to pick up a lot of things during the construction phase and after completion.

@area resident, that’s a great idea; however, I’m not optimistic our County Commissioners (or DOT) will ever concern themselves with traffic flow in this county. Just look at Highway 29, 9 Mile Road, Airport Blvd, Davis Hwy to name a few. We keep adding more and more traffic and more and more unsynchronized traffic signals.

Dear Commissioners, PLEASE consider traffic flow when you permit these residences. There is a major traffic problem on Pine Forest between I-10 and Roberts Road right now because of the many new neighborhoods permitted off of 97 and 297. A little common sense would have helped when Pine Forest was widened. You gave us two lanes to get to work and only one to get home, and didn’t help at all north of Nine Mile! Getting in and out of the Publix parking lot is a joke, not to mention no turn lane for those shopping at Dollar General…BOTTLE NECK! We invite you to visit our area at 5pm on any given evening weeknight.

8.3 houses an acre, sounds kinda tight…or cozy, depending on your point of view. I hear some city dwellers like the idea of having helpful, friendly neighbors close at hand.
