I feel sorry for the home owner. I know he may feel bad about shooting someone. I do however thank you Sir for sending the message to thieves/burgulars that if you steal or break in you may be shot.

I feel compelled to ask Mr. Green if he feels no one in this world is entitled to their own opinion? It seems reading comments on North Escambia that not only does he have something “clever” to say about everything, he argues with other individuals who’s opinion isn’t his. Regarding the comment I made about this story I felt the need to put forth that opinion. Apparently some people think if you believe one thing you must believe something else (not true and did not even see the possible connection). I think I’ll just keep my comments and opinions mine rather than have a “know it all” material to work with.

If so, I guess this is another indictment of the educational system for not teaching students that the purpose of bond is not to punish the accused, but to assure the accused will return to stand trial while allowing freedom until such time — if any — of conviction.

It would be unjust to keep you in jail for years pending trial just because you were accused of something you may not have done (and anybody can accuse anybody). Even so, it is not unheard of for people to not make bond, spend much time in jail only to be acquitted of the charges against them which even if found guilty would have served less time in jail than they did while waiting to be found not guilty.

People who are flight risks need higher bond to assure they will show up for trial. People who are dangers to others or who would skip out on trial rather than face trial should not be given any bond. For ALL OTHERS our Constitution REQUIRES the bond not be unreasonable.

I think Charles point was missed; the bond amount in comparison to other charges is extremely off. I’ll go further and say that crimes against private citizens should be looked at as more serious than say, a crime against “society”, otherwise private citizens will, overtime, become their own 911. The low bond by it’s very nature sends the message that Government sees crimes against individuals as insignificant.

If the garage/storage in question is not part of the building in which he resides, that might not cover this situation. (It might be, me not know.) If he turned in a threatening manner while holding potential weapons, however . . ?

Too bad the victim only winged the kid. Seems like a waste of a good knockdown round to me but I guess it got its point across. Sdaly enough he’s back on the street and might try to retaliate. Better luck/shot next time.

Hopefully he will learn from this mistake and take it as a second chance. Having seen his FB page, this storm was seen coming a long way off – in other words, he was continuing to follow his actions.
