If you are female and drop your first name when you marry and have had a driver license for 25 years under your middle given name, maiden and husband’s last name, you can’t get one unless you have a legal name change or US passport. This happened to me even though I brought a maritime license and a TSA security badge to operate in any port in the states and given me through Homeland Security. We are dealing with federal, state and local and they do not know what each other is doing. Private citizens are being harassed although they have known who we are forever.

Let me get this straight, 99% of the names on the last list of voters to be purged were in fact elegible to vote (a reminder, the list had 180,000 names on it, of which 182 were found to actually be ineligible to vote) but the object of the exercise is integrity, and we’re meant to believe that THIS time the people really ARE ineligible to vote? You’ll pardon me if, based on past performance, I’m skeptical.

Since it appears that some folks can only regurgitate what is fed them by superiors, repeat after me:
requiring a photo ID DOES NOT prevent anyone from legally voting. Try to legally cash a check, purchase liquor, cigarettes, prescriptions, etc…. without an ID.

With that said, I believe Florida have lost their collective legislative minds by the documentation required to RENEW a drivers license. Having been in possession of a legal, valid drivers license for 50 plus years, it is insane for Florida not to accept my previous Florida drivers license, retired military ID, State of Florida issued disabled veteran ID, and CCW, ALL WITH PHOTOS, as documented legal proof of identity.

This is not taking political sides, it’s just plain old common sense.

By requiring the marriage/divorce papers for every name change you have just made it harder and more expensive to drive in Florida. Some women who were divorced 40 years ago are having trouble getting records to support the name change. If you have your birth certificate and have been driving in the United States for 40 years the DMV already has all that information! The same thing will happen with voting!
