What a touching salute to such a fine young man. He exemplied what it means to be a member of the USMC. In addition, the United States is a truly blessed nation to have such a fine young man who served so unselfishly and with such character, integrity, and bravery. May God bless Travis and his family, the members of our Armed Forces, and the United States of America.

This memorial really drives home the meaning of courage, selflessness and one families personal sacrifice, just as many families have done throughout our history.

The men and women of our armed forces are the protectors of our nation.
Special Interest and politicians should not attempt to place them in harms way for the purpose of advancing their own designs and political ambitions.

by whose mercy the faithful departed find rest,
look kindly on our departed service member, Travis Nelson,
who gave his life in the service of his country.
Grant that through the passion, death, and resurrection of your Son
he may share in the joy of your heavenly kingdom
and rejoice in you with your saints forever.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Thank you, Young Marines, for remembering Travis’s service. Thank you for showing that freedom has a price that is often paid in blood, and should not be forgotten.

Lance Corporal Nelson has become a member of the Guard on “Heaven’s Scenes.” His sacrifice as a Marine is remembered as long as there will be Marines. Semper Fidelis!

Travis was in the very first boot camp the Young Marines of Pensacola had when they started in 2007. He made it to the rank of Young Marine Corporal before he graduated high school and went into the Marine Corps. This was a great honor to do for him.
