Rat Snakes are good. They kill rodents that chew electrical wires.

Might surprise you but Moth balls thrown under the trailer will keep rats and snakes away, if ya can stand the smell :-) Better to smell like granny than dead like Lazarus on the forth day?

As a cancer survivor who was very suddenly and unexpectedly widowed shortly after I finished chemo, I have nothing but empathy for this woman. Obviously she has no air conditioning, as evidenced by the box fan in the window. She has no money to take care of herself - that's obvious. Open windows, weeds and grass waist high around her trailer? I'm sure she doesn't choose to live that way.

Somebody out there is able to help her, if she will accept the help. I'm sure she will, after her experience yesterday! This can be your good deed for the whole year, if you're willing. (I'm willing - I'm just not able.)

NOTE: Snakes can get inside any house, whether windows are open or not. If a mouse can get in, a snake can too. If you have mice, sooner or later a rat snake is going to come to the buffet!

Most comments on here refer the tall grass....well, maybe some of us should be a nice neighbor and help cut her grass. Maybe her mower is tore up or she may not have the money to buy a lawn mower or money to pay someone to do it.
I will personal try to put together a group of young boys to see if we can do something to help her out :)

The best defense in this situation is a nicely trimmed lawn, especially around the house. Snakes and other undesirables like the cover that tall grass and weeds provide. I would also invest in an exterminator visit, just for the piece of mind....

yeah, thats a rough one. She has high grass, a front window open with plastic bars on it, and the explorer has windows down., All on top of the fact that she lives in Bogia (also known as Bogia Swamp).... hmmm. Surprised this just now happened. It would be nothing for anything to crawl into her house or vehicle..

I doubt it was a Moccasin. Had it been, she would mostly likely have ended up at the hospital.
That being said, the snake thought it had a reason to be in there. Something attracted it. Maybe a mouse or another snake?
She definitely needs to cut her grass. She needs to consider other deterrents also like a snake repellent.
