Day lived a long, eventful life, full of many ups and downs, trials and hardships that we can't even begin to imagine. A true American hero, he is, and I thank him greatly for his sacrifice and service. He is an example for us all, both civilian and military. It doesn't matter that we are separated by blood and family ties- that no longer counts. We are a family by oath and honor. It is men and women like Col. Day who have given us the privilege to continue on, and serve a calling that is greater than many will know. The world has lost a great man. But his legacy, his traditions, that he and others like him have set down, will continue to live on, to flourish, and thrive. Col.
