I was never afforded the luxury of training wheels. I received my first bike at age 5, a Western Auto Flyer that was about three sizes too big. My father’s logic being that I would grow into it. This logic proved faulty at the point where Horner Street turned to sandy dirt. My R x Dr was not enough to avoid falling and busting my behind.
