This is very a complicated issue. Each individual case should be decided by the families. Not government.

Several years ago some friends of ours had to make a heart breaking decision. One child was in a coma for a very long time. His best care was in one state, but they had other children who's best care was in another state. Because of their job and the needs of the other children they had to move hundreds of miles away. They left an adult child to live near the child in a coma. They would drop everything and fly back at a moments notice.

My Mom was in a care facility this year. Because of the new Medicaid / Medicare rules a social worker walked into the room and said "Ok she's ready to go home today" The nurses said are you kidding there's no way. I told the facility I would pay out of pocket for them to keep her, because I knew she needed care that I was not trained to give. The facility did everything they could they were wonderful, but she died 3 days later.

I don't want government to decide what is best for my family members.

People are always better off at home if it is at all possible. That includes children and old people too. Invest more in home health care rather that shipping them off to a nursing home.

I think this problem was created when Florida House Republican put that Property Tax Initiative on the Ballot in 2006. It was a lazy and backward way of cutting Property taxes by placing the blame on Florida Voters who are naive and whom they knew would vote for it.
It also, IMO, was part of an effort to fluff up the Real Estate/Mortgage bubble that wasn't far from popping.

And since these are nursing homes, let's just bet there were no background checks for child predators when choosing the employees. This is a nightmare! Who is overseeing the safety of these children. It is ALL about money. Money, not the children.

Good "ol Lizzy" climbing the ladder and saving her job. AHCA has never been fond of the disabled. So lets blame OBAMA, that's the ticket. Shipping kids from Escambia to Miami and Tampa now that is an effort in the right direction. Who cares if they never see their parents or brothers or sisters again, its what is economical for the system that matters. It might cost the same or less to have nursing care in the home but no, we must punish the poor for being poor. You go Lizzy, keep running the Medicaid program into the ground then you might be able to join the forces of the republican party in Florida.

Don't you love it, the AHCA blames Obama for doing what is right and just. Speak to any parent of a medically complex child and see what the AHCA has done so right.
Lizzy wants to keep her job and make Scott happy that's all she is up too. Saving her job in this republican state is all she is up too, blame Obama. These children need to be a part of families, live in society, be at home and celebrate holidays with families. They don't need to be shipped to Miami or Tampa to waste away in a nursing home. Rather than give appropriate care at home which would be skilled nursing services several hours a day, they would rather ship them off and abandon these poor innocent children. You want to get rid of abortion then be willing to pay for the consequence. Proper care for these children.
